The Columbian Park Zoo's Conservation Committee works to help integrate conservation into all areas of the Zoo's operations. This includes identifying public education platforms, evaluating green practices, and supporting conservation field work through fundraising endeavors.
The Columbian Park Zoo selects "Conservation Hot Topics" - issues of particular concern where we can focus our resources for the greatest impact. Each Hot Topic follows a two-year arc in which it is integrated into the Zoo's goals and educational messages with the vision that after a Hot Topic is retired it continues to live on in the very fabric of what we do. A legacy component is included with each Hot Topic, in the form of long-term curriculum impact, exhibit components, or community partnerships.
