Burger King Robbery

September 29, 2016

At approximately 1:37am on the above date, Lafayette Police officers received a call regarding a robbery at Burger King in the 2900-block of Greenbush St. Officers arrived and spoke with employees at the restaurant. They advised that the suspect approached the drive-through window as an employee was serving a customer. The suspect struck the drive-through window with a small, hand-held tool, breaking it. The suspect then broke into the cash register, stealing an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported at that scene.

The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6’ tall, with a thin build. The male was also wearing a red and white, large towel or bed sheet over his head.

At around the same time, the Lafayette Police Department received a call regarding criminal mischief and theft in the 1900-block of Morton St. The victim advised that a suspect matching the same description as the robbery suspect from Greenbush St approached her vehicle and smashed the rear window with a hammer. He then stole a dress out of the backseat. The suspect then fled between houses.

At 2:18am, officers were called to St. Elizabeth East regarding a battery that had occurred at Burger King on Greenbush St earlier in the evening. The victim advised officers that she had just gone through the Burger King drive-through and was eating her food on the north side of the building. A male approached her and demanded money. The suspect was described as a black male, thin build, and wearing a towel or sheet over his head. He then struck the victim in the head with a weapon of some kind. The weapon also broke her window. The male fled in an unknown direction.

Investigations into all three incidents are ongoing. Anybody with further information regarding these incidents is encouraged to call the Lafayette Police Department (807-1200) or the We-Tip Hotline (800-78-CRIME).
