Death of Retired LPD K9 Douwe

It is with great sadness that the Lafayette Police Department announces the death of retired LPD K9 Douwe.  Douwe served along with his handler, Sergeant Scott Anderson from 2009 through 2016.  During Douwe’s career he was responsible for 312 apprehensions of suspects, 9 bite apprehensions, Marijuana Seized: 17 pounds, Methamphetamine Seized: 115 grams, Heroin Seized: 98 grams, Cocaine Seized: 1.5 pounds, and Crack Cocaine Seized: 15 grams.

After his retirement Douwe was able to live out his final years with Scott and his family.  Douwe was 13 years old.  Our thoughts go out to the Anderson family.
